Top Pick

The safe all-rounder. Good at everything, exciting at nothing. Fine if you just want a dependable flagship.

Is it worth it in the UAE?

The safest all-round flagship pick here - strong performance, a capable camera, and Samsung's long software-support window, without the specific tradeoffs of the larger S26 Ultra or the ecosystem commitment of an iPhone. Choose it over the Ultra if you don't need the bigger screen or S Pen, and over the iPhone if you want to stay on Android.

Should you buy it?

Buy it if you want a flagship that fits in one hand and you do not need the Ultra's zoom or S Pen. At 167g it is the lightest phone we recommend, by a long way, and for a lot of people that matters more than a fourth camera. There is one thing to check before you pay, and it is not a small one: this phone ships with two different processors depending on where the unit was made, and the battery difference between them is large.

Check which chip your unit has

The S26 is sold with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Samsung's own Exynos 2600, split by region. In published battery testing the Snapdragon unit ran for 9 hours 26 minutes against 6 hours 48 minutes for the Exynos, a gap of roughly 28%. Testers also report the Exynos version running noticeably hotter and drawing more power on ordinary tasks like scrolling social feeds.

Reporting on exactly which regions get which chip has not been consistent, and the UAE sees a lot of imported stock, so do not assume. Check the model number on the box or in Settings before you pay, and if you are buying online, ask the seller. On a phone with a 4300 mAh battery, nearly three hours of screen time is not a detail you discover later and shrug at.

What you actually get

The size, which is the point. 6.3in and 167g. The Ultra is 214g and the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 233g, so this is the one you can use one-handed and forget is in your pocket. If you have been carrying a slab for two years and resent it, this is the fix.

The screen. LTPO AMOLED at 120Hz peaking at 2600 nits, the same panel technology as the Ultra in a smaller frame. Bright enough for UAE daylight without argument.

The camera. 50MP main, a 3x telephoto and an ultrawide. The 3x is the meaningful one: it is real optical reach, and it is what separates this from mid-range phones that crop and call it zoom. It does not have the Ultra's 5x periscope.

Software. Android 16 with up to seven major OS updates, and 12GB of RAM. Seven years of support puts it level with the Pixel and ahead of everything else in this table.

Who it is for

The buyer who wants a proper flagship without a proper flagship in their pocket. Small hands, shirt pockets, anyone tired of two-handed typing. Also the sensible choice if the Ultra's price makes you hesitate, because you keep the screen quality, the chip and the update window, and give up reach and battery size.

The honest downsides

4300 mAh is the smallest battery on this page, and 25W charging is slow next to the 80W and 100W phones costing a third as much. A small battery paired with the wrong chip is the worst case here, which is why the model check above matters. And at around 2436 AED it sits awkwardly close to the Ultra's discounted pricing, so it is worth comparing the two on the day rather than in the abstract.

Price and value in the UAE

Around 2436 AED. That is real money for a phone that is deliberately not the biggest or the longest-lasting, and the value case rests entirely on whether you want a compact flagship. If you do, nothing else here competes: the Pixel 10 Pro is the only other 6.3in option and it costs more while being slower. If you do not care about size, the Ultra gives you more phone and the OnePlus 13R gives you more battery for less than half the money.

Pros

  • 167g, comfortably the lightest phone we recommend
  • Flagship 2600 nit screen in a compact 6.3in body
  • Real 3x optical zoom, not a crop
  • Seven years of OS updates

Cons

  • 4300 mAh, the smallest battery on this page
  • Two chip versions exist and the battery gap between them is about 28%
  • 25W charging is slow for the price
  • Priced close enough to the Ultra to make the choice awkward
