Samsung Galaxy A56
Budget PickThe budget pick that keeps winning - the A5x line is the most-recommended phone in its class, and recent Amazon.ae price cuts made it an even safer buy.
Is it worth it in the UAE?
The safe pick for buyers who want a well-reviewed mid-ranger without flagship spending. In the UAE the A5x line stays in stock and gets frequent Amazon.ae price drops, so it's worth checking back if it isn't at its lowest when you look. Good for daily use, social apps and light gaming; if you specifically want flagship-tier camera or gaming performance for similar money, see the OnePlus 13R or Redmi Note 15 Pro+ picks on this page instead.
Should you buy it?
Buy it if you want a phone you can stop thinking about for the next five years. The A56 is not fast and it does not zoom, but it takes good photos in daylight, lasts a day, and Samsung will keep patching it for six years. At around 1238.91 AED that combination is the reason this line keeps getting recommended. Skip it if you game seriously, or if you shoot a lot in low light.
What you actually get
Support, which is the real product. Six major Android versions and six years of security updates. Most phones at this price get two or three. That is what makes the A56 a five-year phone rather than a two-year phone, and it is worth more in practice than any spec on the sheet.
The screen. 6.7in Super AMOLED at 120Hz, peaking at 1900 nits. That is a genuinely good panel at this price, and the 120Hz makes the phone feel quicker than its chip actually is.
The main camera. A 50MP sensor with optical stabilisation. Reviewers consistently rate daylight results as solid, with natural colour and reliable HDR. There is also a genuinely useful ultrawide and a macro lens you will forget exists.
The selfie camera, unexpectedly. Samsung dropped from a 32MP front sensor on the previous model to 12MP, and reviewers report the pictures got noticeably better rather than worse. Sharper, better exposed, more consistent. If you take a lot of selfies or video call constantly, this matters more than the macro lens ever will.
Battery. 5000 mAh with 45W charging. That is a larger battery and faster charging than the Galaxy S26 costing more than twice as much.
Who it is for
Almost everyone who is not a gamer or a photographer. Messaging, banking, maps, video, social, camera in daylight: it does all of that without complaint. It is also the phone to buy for someone who does not want to think about phones, precisely because the update window means it will not need replacing early.
The honest downsides
Raw speed is where the money was saved, and reviewers say so plainly: it lags the wider mid-range market on performance. Demanding games will not run well. The camera falls off once you push the zoom or move indoors at night, and there is no telephoto lens at all, so any zoom is a crop. None of that is hidden or surprising at this price, but do not buy it expecting a cheap flagship.

Price and value in the UAE
Around 1238.91 AED, and it discounts often on Amazon.ae, which is what tipped it from good to obvious. At this price the competition is the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ and the Infinix Note 50, both of which give you more raw specification for the money. The A56 wins on the two things spec sheets do not show: six years of updates, and resale value. If you keep phones a long time, that is the better trade.
Pros
- Six OS versions and six years of security updates at this price
- 6.7in 120Hz AMOLED that punches above the money
- Reliable 50MP main camera with stabilisation in daylight
- 5000 mAh and 45W charging, both better than the S26
Cons
- Clearly behind rivals on raw performance
- No telephoto, so all zoom is a digital crop
- Camera weakens noticeably in low light
- Cheaper rivals offer more specification per dirham
