RK Royal Kludge RK61
Budget 60%The compact 60 percent starter board: hot swappable, wireless, and small enough to live in a bag.
The short version
Short answer: the default first mechanical keyboard for anyone who wants the smallest sensible layout without spending real money.
Living without arrow keys
A 60 percent board deletes the function row, the navigation cluster and the arrows. They still exist, on a layer you reach by holding a modifier. Most people adapt within a week for gaming and typing. Anyone who lives in spreadsheets should buy the 75 percent layout instead and skip the adjustment period entirely.
Why it stays recommended
It has been the standard answer for years because it does the two things that matter at this price: the switches are socketed, so the board can be changed rather than replaced, and it runs wired or wireless. Very little else under 250 dirhams does both.
Where it shows its price
The case is plastic and the sound is higher pitched and hollower than a gasket mounted board. Battery life is fine rather than impressive. None of that is a surprise at this price, and none of it stops the board being a genuinely good first purchase.
Who it suits
Buy it if desk space is genuinely short, or if the keyboard needs to travel. A 60 percent board leaves room for wide mouse movement on a small desk, which is the practical reason competitive players use them rather than any aesthetic one.
Skip it if you use arrow keys, function keys or a number pad for work. The layer system works, but it is a daily tax, and people who do spreadsheets on a 60 percent board tend to give up on it.
What to buy instead
The Aula F75 at the same 200 dirhams keeps arrow keys and adds a volume knob, and is the better choice for most people who thought they wanted a 60 percent. The K552 at 120 is bigger and cheaper. The Keychron K2 HE at 549 is the upgrade if this layout suits you and you want to stay in it.
Buying it in the UAE
Availability here is patchy and the colourways come and go, so if a version you like is in stock it is usually worth taking. Hot swap is the feature that makes this worth buying at this price, so confirm the listing says hot swappable rather than assuming, since older non swappable versions still circulate.
