PC Default

The controller that PC games assume you are holding when they draw their button prompts.

The short version

Short answer: buy this one unless you have a specific reason not to, because everything on PC supports it without being asked.

Compatibility is the whole argument

PC games display the correct button icons for this pad automatically and without configuration. Other controllers work, but often show the wrong prompts or need a translation layer that breaks after an update. That difference is the entire reason this is the default.

The hardware

Textured grips, a hybrid direction pad that suits both fighting games and menus, and a share button that captures clips. It takes two AA batteries out of the box, which some people hate and others prefer, since a dead pad is fixed in ten seconds rather than tethered to a cable.

Connecting it

Bluetooth works and is good enough for most games. Competitive players who can feel input lag should use a cable or the dedicated wireless adapter, which is more stable than Bluetooth under load.

Who it suits

Buy it if you play PC games with a controller and do not want to think about it again. Prompts on screen match the pad in your hands, games detect it without configuration, and nothing needs a driver. That sounds minor until you have spent an evening fighting a pad that a game refuses to recognise.

Skip it if you want the best hardware for the money. The sticks here use the older potentiometer design, which means drift is a question of when rather than whether.

What to buy instead

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2C at 133 uses hall effect sticks that do not drift, and costs less. It is the better hardware and the worse compatibility story. The DualSense at 233 has far better triggers and haptics, and a patchier time on PC. Pick based on which of those three problems you would rather have.

Buying it in the UAE

Always in stock, many colours, and the colour changes the price by a surprising amount here for identical hardware. Note the standard model takes AA batteries rather than charging over USB, so budget for rechargeables or a play and charge kit on top of the sticker price.
