8BitDo Ultimate 2C
Budget PickA budget wireless pad that uses hall effect sticks, which do not develop drift.
The short version
Short answer: the cheap controller to buy, and the sticks outlast pads costing three times as much.
Hall effect sticks are the point
Stick drift, where a controller registers movement you are not making, comes from contact based sensors wearing out. Magnetic sticks have nothing rubbing against anything, so they do not develop it. Finding that at around 99 dirhams is genuinely unusual.
What it is like to use
It reports itself as a standard pad, so games recognise it without configuration. Software lets you remap buttons and adjust stick and trigger sensitivity, which is more control than most budget pads offer.
Where it falls short
The rumble is basic and the shell feels lighter and cheaper in the hand than the first party pads. Button prompts in games may show the wrong icons depending on the mode you connect in.
Who it suits
Buy it if you have thrown away a drifting controller before and do not want to do it again. Hall effect sticks use magnets rather than physical contacts, so the failure mode that kills most pads simply is not present. At 133 dirhams that is the cheapest route to a controller that should outlast the others here.
Skip it if you want everything to work the first time without configuration. It is well supported, but it is not the pad that games assume you are holding.
What to buy instead
The Xbox Wireless Controller at 167 is the compatibility choice and costs a little more for worse sticks. The DualSense at 233 has the best triggers of the three and the most awkward relationship with PC. This one is the value pick and the durability pick at the same time.
Buying it in the UAE
Stock here is less predictable than the first party pads, so it comes and goes. There are several similarly named models in the range with different feature sets, so read the listing carefully: the 2C is the wired and wireless budget model, and its siblings cost more and include a charging dock.
