HP Victus 15
Value PickThe Victus is the LOQ/Nitro rival - often the cheapest way into a real GPU.
The short version
Short answer: often the cheapest route to a real graphics card at around 3290 AED, and that is its whole argument. The 144Hz panel is dim and colour-poor, and the ~52.5Wh battery is small for a gaming laptop. If the budget stops here, it works. If it stretches, the TUF A15 is the better machine.
Is it worth it in the UAE?
The Victus exists to be the answer to one question: what is the least I can spend and still have a discrete GPU? At roughly 3290 AED it is usually the cheapest of the LOQ, Nitro V and Victus trio, and that is a legitimate reason to buy it. Just go in knowing which corners were cut to get there, because they were cut in visible places.
Performance, realistically
The i5-13420H is an 8-core chip and a sensible pairing at this level. It is the same processor as the IdeaPad Slim 3, except here it is feeding a discrete GPU rather than integrated graphics, which is where the extra money went. For 1080p gaming the CPU is not the limiting factor.
The RTX 3050/4050-class GPU is entry-level, and expectations should match. Modern titles at 1080p on medium settings, generally fine. Esports at high frame rates that actually make use of the 144Hz panel, comfortably. Maximum settings with ray tracing, no. 16GB of DDR5 is the right amount and the 512GB SSD is standard, though a modern game library will fill that faster than you expect.
The screen, and its problem
15.6-inch FHD IPS at 144Hz is exactly what you want for this class of gaming. The refresh rate is real and useful. But at around 250 nits and roughly 45% NTSC coverage, this is the weakest panel of the gaming laptops here, and the only one at this level without approximately full sRGB coverage.
In practice that means colours look washed out next to the LOQ, Nitro V or TUF, all of which hit around 100% sRGB for similar money. You get the smoothness and not the richness. If you spend a lot of time looking at this screen for things other than games, that gap is noticeable.
Heat, noise and the UAE climate
This is the one gaming laptop on the page whose spec sheet describes no particular cooling design, while the LOQ, Nitro V and TUF all name theirs. That is not proof of a problem, but it is a fair signal about where the engineering budget went. In a warm room, expect fan noise under load.
Dust is the real long-term threat in this climate. Whatever gaming laptop you buy here, keep the vents clear and lift it off soft surfaces. Our guide to fan problems applies to laptops more than people think.
What you are giving up
Screen quality, battery capacity, and a named cooling system. At ~52.5Wh the battery is the smallest of the gaming laptops here, and gaming laptops drain fast regardless, so treat this as a plug-in machine. No Thunderbolt, which is universal across this price bracket. The white backlit keyboard and full port selection, including Ethernet, are solid.
Should you buy it?
Buy it if it is the cheapest discrete-GPU laptop available when you are shopping and the budget genuinely will not move.
Do not buy it if you can reach the TUF Gaming A15 at around 3,000 AED. That is roughly 290 dirhams for a better GPU, a better panel, a proper cooling system and a military-standard chassis. On this page, that is the single most lopsided upgrade available, and it is hard to argue for the Victus once you have seen it.
