MSI Cyborg 15

The short version

Short answer: the newest GPU generation on this page for the money. The RTX 5050 is a step up from the RTX 4050 in the Acer Nitro V 15, and this comes in cheaper than that machine did at launch.

Is it worth it in the UAE?

MSI's gaming line is well stocked on Amazon.ae, and the Cyborg series is its budget-gaming tier - a plastic chassis instead of the metal on MSI's higher Katana and Raider lines, in exchange for hitting a real gaming laptop at a real price.

Performance, realistically

The i7-13620H is a 10-core H-series chip, comfortably ahead of anything integrated-graphics at this price and a fair match for the Nitro V 15's i7-13620H - same CPU, in fact. The difference is the GPU generation: RTX 5050 8GB here versus RTX 4050 6GB in the Nitro, plus 2GB more VRAM, which matters more as games get heavier on texture memory.

16GB DDR5 is the right amount for gaming at this tier - enough headroom for the game plus Discord, a browser and a capture tool running in the background without swapping.

The screen

15.6" FHD IPS at 144Hz. Not the sharpest panel on paper, but the 144Hz refresh is what actually matters for the esports titles a GPU like this is built to run at high frame rates - Valorant, CS2, Fortnite all benefit more from refresh rate than from resolution.

Build and daily use

Gaming laptops in this price bracket are built for a desk, not a bag - expect a plastic chassis, fan noise under load, and a thicker profile than an ultrabook. That is the standard trade for a real discrete GPU at this price, not unique to MSI.

Should you buy it?

Buy it if you want the newest GPU generation available at this price and can live with a plastic chassis built for gaming rather than portability.

Do not buy it if you do not game, in which case the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 or Dell 15 DC15250 get you more battery life and a lighter machine for less money, or if you want an even stronger GPU, in which case look at the Lenovo Legion 5.
