Lenovo Legion 5 (i9 OLED)
Flagshipi9-14900HX + OLED 165Hz + 32GB - maximum everything. Bring your wallet.
The short version
Short answer: a 24-core i9-14900HX, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD and a 165Hz 500-nit OLED panel, at around 8419 AED. The most powerful machine here by a distance. It also pairs that CPU with the same 8GB RTX 5060-class GPU as the cheaper Legion 5, which is the single most important thing to understand before buying it.
Is it worth it in the UAE?
That depends on an unusually specific question: do you need CPU cores, or do you want a fast laptop? If it is the former, this is the only machine on the page that answers it. If it is the latter, you are about to spend a great deal of money on frames you will not get.
Performance, and the catch
The i9-14900HX is a 24-core HX-series processor and it is genuinely enormous for a laptop. Video encoding, compiling, rendering, heavy virtual machines, large datasets: this handles work that would make every other laptop here struggle visibly.
Now the catch. The GPU is RTX 5060 class with 8GB of VRAM, the same tier as the standard Legion 5. In games, the GPU is almost always the limiting factor, which means this laptop will not game meaningfully faster than the Legion 5 that costs considerably less. You are paying for cores, not for frames. Anyone buying an i9 expecting better gaming performance has misread what the money does, and it is a costly misreading.
32GB of DDR5 and a 1TB NVMe drive match the standard Legion 5. Sensible, sufficient, and not a differentiator.
The screen, which is a real upgrade
15.1-inch WQXGA OLED at 165Hz, around 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3. Two genuine improvements over the standard Legion 5 here: 165Hz instead of 120Hz, and 500 nits instead of 400. The higher refresh rate matters for competitive play, and the extra brightness matters in any room with sunlight in it, which in the UAE is most of them.
Combined with OLED contrast and full DCI-P3 coverage, this is the best display on the page without argument. If the screen is where your money should go, this is the one that justifies it.
Cooling, heat and the climate
The same Legion ColdFront system with dual fans and quad exhaust, now asked to cool a 24-core i9 rather than a 14-core i7. That is substantially more heat in the same chassis, and it is fair to expect this machine to run hotter and louder under sustained load than its cheaper sibling. In a warm room, budget for fan noise. A cooling pad is a reasonable purchase rather than an accessory-shop upsell.
The ~80Wh battery is the same as the standard Legion 5, but a 24-core processor will drain it faster. Treat this as a plug-in workstation that occasionally moves.
Build and daily use
Roughly 2.4kg, 4-zone RGB, 1080p webcam, Wi-Fi 6E, and full ports including HDMI 2.1 and Ethernet. Still no Thunderbolt, which at nearly 8419 AED is genuinely difficult to defend. That is the one specification on this laptop that does not match its price.
Should you buy it?
Buy it if your work is heavily multi-threaded and you want the best display available here. For video editors, developers and anyone who watches progress bars for a living, the CPU is a real productivity gain.
Do not buy it if you are primarily a gamer. The standard Legion 5 has the same GPU class, the same memory and the same storage, and will play the same games at close to the same frame rates. Buy that, and put the difference toward a monitor, a desk, or quite a lot of games.
