GTA 6 PC Requirements: What Is Known, and What Is Guesswork
Short answer: nobody knows. Rockstar has published no PC system requirements, because it has not announced a PC version at all. Everything circulating online is inference. Do not buy hardware for this game yet.
What is actually confirmed
Very little, and it is worth being precise about it. GTA 6 launches 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no announced PC version, no announced date, and therefore no official minimum or recommended specification of any kind. Any table you see headed "GTA 6 system requirements" today was written by someone guessing, usually with a buy button underneath it.
The one solid data point: the console baseline
Because the game is built to run on PS5 and Series X, we know the performance envelope it was designed inside. Those consoles sit roughly in the region of an 8-core Zen 2 CPU, a GPU broadly comparable to an RTX 2070 Super or RX 6700, and 16GB of shared memory.
That is genuinely useful as a floor. A PC port targeting console-equivalent settings and frame rates has to run on something in that class. It tells you nothing about what the game will need for high settings, high refresh rates, or ray tracing on PC, which is where PC ports usually add headroom and cost.
What the community is guessing, and why
Enthusiast communities have converged on a rough consensus. We are reporting it as speculation, because that is what it is.
- VRAM is the recurring worry. The most common prediction is that 8GB cards will struggle with high-resolution textures, and that 12GB or 16GB is the safer target. This is the most credible of the guesses, because it matches how recent large open-world releases have actually behaved.
- CPU load is expected to be unusually heavy. The reasoning is the density shown in trailers: large numbers of individually simulated pedestrians and vehicles. The consensus lands on 8 cores as a sensible floor, with chips that carry large caches, such as AMD's X3D parts, expected to do disproportionately well.
- The 60fps guesses cluster around an RTX 3060 Ti or 3070 for a console-like experience, and around an RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT for 1440p with room to spare.
Those numbers are reasonable extrapolations from the console hardware and from how the studio's previous ports behaved. They are not information. Treat them as the shape of a sensible guess, not a shopping list.
Why you should not buy hardware for this yet
Three reasons, and they compound.
There is no date. Rockstar's previous PC ports arrived roughly a year to eighteen months after the console release. If that pattern holds, a PC version lands somewhere in late 2027 or 2028. Hardware bought today will be one or two generations old by then, and considerably cheaper.
There are no requirements to build against. Buying a specific card because a forum post guessed at a number is not planning ahead. It is guessing, with your money, on someone else's behalf.
GPU prices in the UAE are unusually bad right now. This is a poor moment to buy a graphics card speculatively for a game with no release date.
What to do instead
Build or upgrade for what you are playing this year. If your current machine handles your actual library at the settings you want, you do not need anything. If it does not, our GPU guide and CPU guide are written around games that exist and have published requirements.
When Rockstar announces a PC version and publishes real specifications, we will update this page with the actual numbers and say plainly which of the guesses above turned out to be right. Until then, the entire purpose of this page is to talk you out of spending money early.
